The Farmers Daughters on Olive Hill - The Name

How does one actually come up with a name? I don't know. What I do know is that I had a dream to grow a cut flower garden and spend more time outdoors with my youngest daughter. However, I didn't have the space or time to do so.

When the covid pandemic hit, I was working full time as a bedside nurse in a local hospital in the covid unit. Knowing that I would eventually be home schooling my youngest daughter, I had aspirations to go down to part time. An opportunity arose for me to take a different position and I jumped on it(well not exactly but that's a story for a different time). So, I suddenly had more time to spend with my youngest child and I knew how much she enjoyed spending time with me in the garden. Thats when I decided I wanted to grow a cut flower garden. I invested in the Floret course, ordered a bunch of seeds, started a bunch of trays, and quickly realized that I had very little space at my suburban track home to plant them.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of town on Olive Hill, my mother was at home in the midst of her own project. Tearing out many blackberry briers, acacia trees, and lots of scrub brush. Selfishly, I quickly jumped in and joined her, in hopes of being able to use some of the newly discovered space for some flowers. So in early 2021 in the newly cleared space, my mother added a large chicken coop (and many more chickens to her flock), and I added a large cutting garden.

So there you have it, a three generational project. My mother(a farmer) doing something for me(a daughter), so I(a farmer) could do something for my daughter. The Farmers Daughters on Olive Hill.
